Fulvio Raddi, a second-year PhD student in Statistics and Cybernetics at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FSEGA), and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow, participated in IFORS 2026, taking place at the University of Vienna from 12 to 17 July, where he presented part of his doctoral research.

IFORS stands for the International Federation of Operational Research Societies. Its conference is one of the most important international events in the field of operational research, bringing together researchers, academics, and professionals from around the world to discuss new methods, applications, and challenges in decision sciences, analytics, optimization, and artificial intelligence.

He presented his work on how text data can influence time series analysis, focusing on the use of volatility econometric models that include regressors derived from textual information. His analysis is positioned at the intersection of statistics, econometrics, artificial intelligence, and text analysis, aiming to better understand how unstructured textual data can improve models used to analyze and forecast volatility. His research is funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) within the Digital Finance programme, under the supervision of Prof. Codruța Mare.

The presentation was included in the stream “Operations Research and Sustainability”, within the session MC-35: Applications of AI meets Sustainability. This context highlights the relevance of his research for contemporary challenges, where artificial intelligence and advanced statistical methods can contribute to more informed and sustainable decision-making.

His participation at IFORS 2026 represents an important academic achievement and reflects the international visibility of doctoral research conducted at Babeș-Bolyai University.
