The Doctoral School of Integrative Biology (SDBI) is an integrated part of the Faculty of Biology and Geology and is guided and coordinated by the Institute of Doctoral Studies (ISD) of the “Babeş-Bolyai” University.
The SDBI organizes doctoral studies in the field of “Biology”, a program which is completed with a scientific doctorate and the award of the title of Doctor of Biology.
The doctoral theses elaborated by the doctoral students from SDBI are from the area of ​​competence of the doctoral supervisors, reflected by research topics, doctoral courses and the obtained professional achievements.


Research activities are carried out through doctoral research in the field and/or in laboratories in accredited research units (3B, MEC, FCIC, IRI-2, IGV) of UBB, as well as in other research laboratories from Romania and abroad. 
SDBI fulfills the mission of university education to train competent specialists in the field and ensures the increase of the international scientific visibility of the Romanian school.
Among the many professional successes of Ph.D. students from SDBI, one should mention also the scientific articles published in established journals with international visibility, such as Nature Plants, Nature Microbiology, Scientific Reports, Frontiers in pharmacology, International Journal of Molecular Science, Cellular Oncology, Environmental Pollution etc.


The quality of doctoral theses and publications (doctoral theses, scientific articles, books, book chapters, etc.) by Ph.D. students from SDBI are constantly increasing and contributing to the international visibility of the “Babeş-Bolyai” University. The European doctorate and internationally joined supervisions, as well as interdisciplinary research collaborations, are in the future plans of this doctoral school.
