Today, May 22, 2024, the doctoral candidate Varga Szilvia defended her thesis focused on online political communication within the Doctoral School Communication, PR, and Advertising of the Faculty of Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences of the Babes-Bolyai University (BBU) Cluj-Napoca. An international doctoral committee, including Assoc. Prof. Gozer Rita Ph.D. from the University of Pécs, Assoc. Prof. Tökes Gyöngyvér Ph.D. from Sapientia University, Prof. Kadar Magor Ph.D. and Prof. Delia Cristina Balas Ph.D. from the BBU alongside the scientific supervisor Prof. Vincze Orsolya Hanna awarded the thesis with the predicate ‘excellent.’ The PhD student used a mixed methodological approach to delve into the topic of the online political participation of the Hungarians from Transylvania. The work contributes to a better understanding of how the Hungarians from Transylvania perceive political communication online and highlights the difference between political and civic participation. The research has theoretical and practical implications, as Varga Szilvia pointed out during her eloquent presentation.
